Olga Vieira is co-managing partner of the firm’s Miami office. Olga is a seasoned trial lawyer handling bet-the-company disputes for top global clients. Olga’s practice focuses on complex commercial litigation and mass torts.

Olga recently obtained dismissal of a purported consumer class action on behalf of General Motors. She was named “Litigator of the Week” by The AmLaw Litigation Daily, for her work securing an injunction against the State of Florida barring enforcement of a Florida statute which prohibited her client, Norwegian Cruise Lines, from requiring vaccine documentation. She was also recognized by The Best Lawyers in America for Commercial Litigation.

Olga is well-known to the bench and bar in South Florida, having litigated in the area since 2006. Her deep Miami roots and community leadership roles benefit her clients as they navigate the litigation process or local business environment.

Notable Representations

  • Olga represents Express Scripts, a large pharmacy benefits manager, in litigation around the country, including an MDL in Ohio, where the parties allege RICO claims.
  • Olga recently pursued and obtained emergency relief from the Court after 44 employees left her client for a competitor, taking confidential information and soliciting clients in violation of their restrictive covenants. Olga coordinated the investigation into the former employees’ emails and electronic files to uncover records of file transfers, accessing external drives and theft of confidential client lists. After a few months of discovery, Olga’s team uncovered so many instances of wrongful conduct that the Defendants entered into a historically favorable settlement for her client.
  • Olga is also representing a client navigating a cyber security breach that exposed customer data. To date, Olga has assisted with the investigation and handling of two customer claims that are in litigation. More are expected in the coming months. Olga is also coordinating the client’s response to an insurance coverage dispute for the incident.
  • In August 2021, Ms. Vieira and a team of Quinn Emanuel attorneys obtained from the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida a pathbreaking preliminary injunction on behalf of Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings enabling its cruise ships to sail as planned, with proof that all passengers are fully vaccinated, notwithstanding a Florida statute that prohibits businesses from requiring that customers supply vaccine documentation.  The district court agreed that Florida’s prohibition offends both the First Amendment and the Dormant Commerce Clause.
  • One of the lead trial attorneys defending a tobacco manufacturer in a wrongful death claim where plaintiff sought $50 million. Defendants obtained a complete defense verdict after a three-week trial.
  • One of the lead trial attorneys for an engineering firm in a two-week personal injury trial where plaintiff alleged catastrophic injuries and sought over $10 million in damages. The case resolved after the trial, while the jury deliberated. Kevin Charles Simpson v. FLSmidth, Inc.
  • One of the lead trial attorneys for the defendant in a federal court labor dispute alleging unfair wage practices under the Fair Labor Standards Act. The case resulted in a complete defense verdict.
  • Provided legal issues and trial support during a three-week trial over the death of a 54-year-old smoker claiming compensatory and punitive damages for lung cancer and addiction arising from the use of cigarettes containing nicotine.
  • Provided legal issues and trial support in a two-week trial where a former smoker sought compensatory damages for bladder cancer caused by his alleged addiction to cigarettes containing nicotine.
  • Provided legal issues and trial support in an eight-week trial where a smoker sought compensatory and punitive damages for cancer and addiction arising from the use of cigarettes containing nicotine.
