Emily Au
emilyau@quinnemanuel.comEmily Au is an associate in Quinn Emanuel’s London office. Her practice focuses on tax litigation and regulatory disputes.
Emily’s experience encompasses acting for taxpayers in disputes across the full spectrum of the UK judiciary, from appeals to the First-tier (Tax) Tribunal and Administrative Court through to applications to the UK Supreme Court, and in international arbitral institutions. Emily conducts advocacy before the UK tax tribunals. She also advises clients with regulatory enquiries, civil and criminal investigations, voluntary disclosures and alternative dispute resolution.
Emily has acted for multinational companies and high net worth individuals based in the UK, US, the Middle East and Asia, across a broad range of industries, including financial services, sport, media and entertainment, telecommunications and insurance.
Emily is recognised for her expertise in the field of tax disputes. In 2024, she was named a Rising Star by Law360 (Global) and a Leading Associate in Tax Litigation by Legal 500. In previous years, she was shortlisted as a European Rising Star in Tax by the Women in Business Law Awards and listed as a Rising Star in Legal 500. Emily also regularly publishes and presents on topical issues within the tax field, including publications in the British Tax Review, Tax Journal and leading national newspapers.
Prior to joining the firm, Emily worked as an associate at another global law firm, spending three months on secondment to a global IT outsourcing company.
Emily graduated with honours in Law from the University of Exeter, where she was a Mooting Scholar, before completing a Masters in Law at King’s College London
