Work where you work best

We’re Reimagining How We Work Together.

Our lawyers should work from wherever they do their best work. That’s why, with approval, all of our full-time U.S. associates and of counsel can work from anywhere in the US.

Over the past several years, our lawyers have mastered the art of collaborating remotely and at the highest levels—without sacrificing camaraderie or the free sharing of ideas.

Revamped Training and Mentorship Programs

We’re dedicated to maintaining the firm’s culture and developing our lawyers by transforming our training programs, ramping up mentoring, and increasing offsite gatherings for groups of attorneys.

We will rely on these steps and on remote technologies to ensure new associates are integrated into the firm’s culture regardless of their location.

Bar Admissions

Attorneys approved to work from anywhere will need to be admitted to the bar where their office is located, and also be in compliance with bar admissions requirements of the state in which they are living in the United States.

Opening up Opportunities

We are committed to hiring the most outstanding lawyers possible, so why should where you live limit your career possibilities?

Besides letting our lawyers work from anywhere in the U.S. indefinitely, we are dedicated to recruiting and hiring new associates who live in places where the firm does not have an office.

Your Office, Your Choice

Come into the office if you wish, or never at all. All attorneys will have an “office base” where they are welcome to come in and collaborate together on below things. However, there is no requirement to come into the office, ever.

WFA FAQs

Only if your client work requires you to. We might want new employees to come in and spend some time initially and on a temporary basis for orientation and onboarding. Once all set up and running, they can work from wherever they do their best work.

Under this new policy, incoming associates will be affiliated with one of our U.S. office locations but won't need to practice there in person. That means everyone can work from anywhere in the country.  To participate, an eligible attorney of course needs to get approvals.

If you want to work from an office, you are welcome to! It's entirely up to you when and how often you want to come in to an office to work.

We are reimagining how we use our office spaces, and they will still be available for in-person meetings, team building, and trial preparation, as needed and if desired.

We have never required office “face time,” just as we have never had a dress code. In that sense, the pandemic required no cultural adjustment.  We were pioneers in remote work, launching global initiatives that allowed associates to work at locations around the world years before the pandemic.

In addition, since March 2020, our lawyers have mastered the art of collaborating remotely and at the highest levels—without sacrificing the quality of our work, camaraderie or the free sharing of ideas.

We want to lean into this to expand the door of opportunity to those looking to practice law at our firm. By adopting this policy, we make it possible to recruit outstanding lawyers who might not necessarily live within commuting distance of one of our U.S. offices.

We rely on remote technologies to ensure new associates are integrated into the firm’s culture regardless of their location.

We leverage remote technologies for training and mentorship programs and have offsite gatherings for groups of attorneys. Even with a spread-out team, we want people to understand that they are part of a larger firm.

Attorneys approved to work from anywhere will need to be admitted to the bar where their office is located, and also be in compliance with bar admissions requirements of the state in which they are living.

The Quinn Emanuel policy applies to any lawyer in the U.S. and is subject to applicable tax, bar admission, other legal requirements, and internal approvals.
